As the creator and host of Artists Unleashed! Talent Show (@autalentshow on Instagram), I have been blessed to work with dozens of local artists in just a short amount of time. My talent show's ultimate mission is to celebrate excellence in its various forms and also expose that excellence to anyone whose willing to take out a little time to see who's who right here in our own communities.
Local artists are not simply hustling or grinding. Local artists are WORKING. The professionalism many of these artists demonstrate paired with their enthusiasm for putting on a great show is one of the primary reasons Artists Unleashed! Talent Show has been so successful.
One local artist in particular, James Triplett (more appropriately known as King), has reached many milestones in his career so far and as the old adage goes: he's just getting started. Experience his voice offstage in this virtual interview with the 2017 Artists Unleashed! Grand Champion.
OneVoice: As a local artist, where do you find your motivation to produce quality music/art?

I like to use past and present experiences of my own and those close to me to fuel my content. I tend to work great under pressure. Oddly enough and depending on the topic . . . I believe that I create the strongest product on the toughest days. OneVoice: Adversity does make us fight a little harder, build a little smarter. It's working for you. Has being a contestant in Artists Unleashed! Talent Show (and ultimately winning the title of Grand Champion) impacted you as a local artist?

Yes it has. I am a very competitive person and even though creating music and performing is something I do on a regular basis, winning a competition like Artist Unleashed! Talent Show reassures me that I am heading in the right direction regarding growth. OneVoice: That's reassuring to me as well, King. So, tell us about your most recent project and which song(s) listeners will appreciate the most from your album.

I just released "The Dirty Glove" album late last year which, in essence, I believe to be my best work from beginning to end. However, there are a few songs that stand out: "Dress Code", "Studio Session" and "C'est la Vie" are some that fans are really going to enjoy . . . gives them a little something to vibe to for all "taste buds". OneVoice: What should your fans and supporters look forward to in 2018?

More of my face!! Tours and videos . . . videos and tours with some fresh material to keep them buzzed until the next big project. 2018 is going to be REGAL!
OneVoice: And to kick off that regality, you are headlining the first installment of the talent show in 2018 as the Artists Unleashed! Grand Champion for 2017. What should the audience expect from this performance?

One thing I've been working on is putting the crowd "in my head" for lack of better words. I want them to feel what I felt when I wrote the piece just by seeing me perform. Brand loyalty is my goal and a great way to do that is by giving them King...the raw version. OneVoice: Speaking of giving them king who, exactly, is King?

King is a goal. A goal of what I am to become . . . a lot bigger than music or poetry, but in every aspect. King is a standard . . . an expectation that I am destined to be like no other . . . Destined for greatness.
You've heard it from King (@_7thmile_ on IG) himself. Be sure to see him live February 15, 2018 at Artists Unleashed! Talent Show: Sex Wars. VIP Tickets available at www.only1voice.com/love.
